Care for our pregnant patients is particularly important to us!

Congratulations! You are pregnant! A very exciting and new time now commences for you. At the same time, many of you will be insecure, ask yourselves many questions and hope that you will always make the right decisions. We will gladly support you with advice and actions during this time of change in your life. We want to help you enjoy the upcoming 9 months.

For many years, we worked in the women's clinic of the University Hospital Düsseldorf and the Perinatal Centre Level I, where we took care of women with uncomplicated pregnancies as well as those with high-risk pregnancies. Dr. Mondal also focused on special obstetrics and perinatal medicine, so that both physicians have great experience in taking care of pregnant women according to the latest scientific standards.

In addition to regular preventive screenings according to the maternity directives, we offer many additional examinations that may be sensible from case to case and often match your understandable wish for greater certainty. Unfortunately, these services are usually not covered by the statutory health insurances. Please contact us. We will gladly advise you.

Pregnancy-relevant infection diagnostics

  • Toxoplasmosis
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Cytomegaly
  • Parvo virus (fifth disease)
  • Smear for group B streptococci

Additional ultrasound examinations

According to the maternity guidelines, all patients with uncomplicated pregnancies are due 3 ultrasound examinations between the 9th – 12th week of gestation, the 18th – 22nd week of gestation and the 29th – 32nd week of gestation respectively. Many of you wish to see more often how your children develop. In such cases, we offer additional ultrasound examinations to supplement the regular ones. You can also choose to use first trimester screening, 3D/4D ultrasound and Doppler examinations. In the scope of our consultation, we will inform you in detail about any additional services in order to determine together with you which ultrasound examination may be sensible for you and your child from case to case.

First-trimester screening

Between the 11+1 and the 13+6 week of gestation, a special ultrasound examination can be conducted at your request for early organ diagnosis, nuchal translucency measurement and, if applicable, in combination with blood examinations. After all results are available, the probability of a risk of trisomy of the chromosomes 13, 18 and 21 can be calculated and early organ malformations can be mostly excluded. To securely exclude a chromosomal disorder, genetic diagnosis of the child's cells may be conducted as well (e.g. non-invasive prenatal diagnostics = NIPT). We will gladly advise you about this as well. The first-trimester screening is a self-payer service that unfortunately will not be reimbursed by the health insurances.

Colour Doppler sonography

The special examination method of Doppler sonography permits condition diagnosis of your child. This examination enables us to examine the circulation in various vascular systems of your child. Usually, Doppler is used on delayed growth of your child, hypertension or a risk of preeclampsia ("pregnancy poisoning"). If you are at risk according to the maternity directives, this service will, of course, be covered by the health insurances.

Expanded ultrasound screening

In the 2nd third of pregnancy (18th - 22nd week of gestation), every woman with an uncomplicated pregnancy can choose between 2 different ultrasound examinations.

  1. the "simple" basic ultrasound = Fetometry (measurement of the child) without systematic examination of the foetal morphology or
  2. the "expanded" basic ultrasound = Fetometry with systematic examination of the foetal morphology

If there are any noticeable findings in the scope of the examinations, we will closely cooperate with the leading centres for prenatal medicine.

Non-invasive prenatal diagnostics = NIPT

This blood examination enables us to examine the child's DNA in the blood of the expectant mother for chromosomal disorders. If you choose this additional diagnostic procedure, you should precede this with genetic consulting and a first-trimester screening at our practice. The costs for this highly specialised examination will be covered by the statutory health insurances. Please contact us. We will gladly advise you.
